Rahway represents the happy coincidence of many factors that make for a great urban place: compact, walkable neighborhoods, tree-lined streets, vintage architecture and easy access to mass transit to name just a few. Rahway has been referred to as “the new Hoboken” and for good reason. There are many interesting places to eat, shop or just stroll, with new restaurants and shops opening all the time. Rahway has nurtured its arts community and is now a flourishing center for the both the visual and the performing arts.
The neighborhood around Park Square has been the recipient of much loving care and attention in recent years. The exquisitely beautiful Union County Performing Arts Center, one block from Park Square, is located in the completely renovated 1920s-vintage Rahway Theater and hosts world-class concerts and other theater events. This historic landmark is the centerpiece of the Rahway Arts District. The Arts Guild of Rahway, located on Irving Street, is dedicated to the promotion of the arts and the presentation of works of high quality by many fine artists, musicians and instructors. And, if location is everything, then Rahway is perfectly situated for forays into the surrounding regions via Routes 1 & 9, the Garden State Parkway, or the New Jersey Turnpike. Wherever you’re going, you can get there from here.
